MUPB on stage with The Piano Guys – Aug 26th, 2017

Status

Viral video stars The Piano Guys will feature several members of DFW’s own Metroplex United Pipe Band during their concert at the Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie on the evening of Saturday, August 26th at 8:00pm.

This unique quartet of cellist, pianist, videographer and producer has smashed conventions with an edgy fusion style, and dozens of showcase videos. A couple of their pieces feature the addition of the Scottish Highland Bagpipes, which on the night will be provided by members of our local, award-winning pipe band.

To buy tickets, you can visit the group’s tour page directly from the Verizon Theater.

We hope you will join us and The Piano Guys for an evening of great mashup music, splendid videography, other guest acts and, of course, bagpipes!

You an also find The Piano Guys on Facebook and Twitter.

MUPB Takes Home Two First Place Wins at OK ScotFest!

MUPB had a great weekend earlier this month in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the 37th Annual OK ScotFest. The band competed in both Grade 5 and the Open Medley, winning first place in both events.

These are the first top placings for MUPB which come in the organization’s third year, having formed in 2013. Previous attempts at ScotFest yielded a 2nd place Grade 5 finish in 2015 and a 3rd place Grade 5 finish in 2014.

Now the band sets its sights on November, when MUPB will again compete at the Salado Highland Gathering. See you there!

It also must be said that the trophies themselves are great to look at!

Trophies picture with some special whiskey brought along to celebrate in the event of a first place win, and a few other trinkets dear to the band.

MUPB to play Shannon Brewery’s St. Paddy’s Day Celebration!

The Shannon Brewery will open its doors at 4:00 on Saint Patrick’s Day, and Metroplex United Pipe Band will be performing from 7pm onwards. Regular pints will be $3.50 and nitro pints will be $4.50. We will be launching our Saint Patrick’s Irish Red — a dry hopped version of our Irish Red. This beer is malt forward like our Irish Red but is dry hopped with a combination of floral hops…it’s like spring time in a pint. Texas-Irish BBQ will be served up by Hicks BBQ.
